Fashion Bailout

Since i haven't blogged for a while, i should probably fill up the space.
This editorial was in the April issue of Italian Vogue, photographed
by Steven Meisel and styled by Karl Templer. It months old but none the less inspiring, very wearable and grungy except with a thousand dollar price tag.

guess what came in the mail today...

HARD DAYS NIGHT!!!
(the Beatles Movie)

I'm such a little hip-kid, thats two posts in a row about the Beatles.
Oh how i despise Hip-Kids....

I'm late on the internet shopping phenomena, and lame too... even my Dad (late 40 year old) knows the ins and outs of shopping online...

Apparently there's something very wrong with people wanting to get mop tops

Well at least my friends think so anyway.
I've recently gone through a re-obsession with the Beatles.

Oh yeah and in other news

.. not that anyone reads my blog or anything, but i was posting more on Myspace Blog.
Not that anyone read that too.

On myspace for the last couple of months i've was banging on about Lacroix, who is by far my favorite Couturier.

this is my list of favorite couturier's

1.Christian Lacroix
2.Galliano (for Dior)
3.Jean Paul Gaultier
4.Gareth Pugh.. who isn't a couturier but may as well be!
5.Givenchy

I was deeply depressed to hear that Lacroix had gone bankrupt (also stunned; if you had the money, why wouldn't you want to wear Christian Lacroix haute couture?). But i had faith in my favorite designer and couturier- because thats what you do, i thought he would pull through... i even begged my parents to buy shares (which was a very unrealistic outlook i've now realised). But no... he might of just made his last ever Couture show.

I think... maybe.... because the new Couture audience is looking for outrages and almost satirical garments, houses like Dior and Gaultier become more attractive. I'm not really a Couture buyer (obvz) but thats how i see it anyway.
Christian Lacroix's collection was rather dark, and very wearable considering, also elegant- but thats a given. He said the inspiration came from his ink sketches, which really plays out well in this collection as the attention is drawn to the way the drapery of the fabric creates classic silhouettes (I sound like a prat).
The whole collection was done for free!!! And created by 12 people. Even the venue and the music... to me thats really inspiring.
I watched it on youtube and style.com and people are commenting how they cried. The last dress is stunning!!!

Crazy...

A friend of mine bought a Michael Jackson doll from a cheapo store in 2005 or maybe 2004.
He managed to pick one up for less than $5 on account of it being rejected stock and the media being convinced that Michael Jackson was a pedophile.
On a recent browse on Ebay i noticed something....

Sydney Vintage Fair

Right so, the Sydney Vintage Fair runs from the 17th, 18th to 19th of April and is well worth a visit. Its perfect for vintage fabric collectors, as well as clothing, accessories (the costume jewelry is to die for) and shoes.... so many beautiful beautiful shoes.
You can also find some down right scary stuff, such as yellow rubber swimming caps from the 1950s which resemble the rubber bits on the back of tooth brushes (you know what i'm talking about) and creepy sepia photos of Adams family look-a-likes.

I'll be going to find a pillbox hat as i will be needing one if i'm going to convince my work experience employer (a sydney based milliner) that i really do love headwear :)
Also, a parasol for my friend Katherine (a goth).

And the strange thing is, you can actually find these things, because the Sydney Vintage Fair is brilliant.

(I'll post some photos)

this song has been going around my head for days.

I love how it starts:
"indie boys a neurotic,
they make my eyes bleed,
black jeans exotic.."
etc, etc, you'll hear it.

Its a very sweet song, moldy peaches= back together pleeeeeeeease!

who wants to learn that dance with me?

i can't even begin to comprehend that this was ready to wear....

It looks more like couture to me!

One word to describe it: BEAUTIFUL l, the colours, the cuts the detail! everything right down to the makeup!
If thats ready to wear it looks like i'll be slipping into this number to go to the shops:

[Not that i'd mind really :)
that dress was my favorite]

i also fell in love with these:

Edited by me (i secretly think i did a good job!)

Friday i'm in LOVE!

Well... not theoretically.
but i DID go to an art gallery for school, AGNSW. We went to see Archie Prize, but we drifted into the other less mainstream prizes too.

I had to interview people about what they though of the art work, it was the middle of the day so most of the people i interviewed are not working, all aged over 50.

I talked to these old guys who were super sweet, i was asking them about an abstract, minimalist, geometric piece, they kept saying "it looks like the artist just got a paint roller and some masking tape, hey yeah that is what they did!" they said they might enter one next year if they can make something as simple as the one i was asking them about, it was called 'Step'.
Yes, i saw the sass and bide picture... i was looking forward to seeing it because i admire sass and bide and their beautiful clothing.

Honestly the whole Archie prize is too over hyped, its an art show, but thats it.

We had lunch in a park near by, didn't eat much on account of it raining and mossies, quite dreary. But then it was all made up for when 2 friends of mine came with me to Capitol plaza where we ate yummy thai food for only $9 and took photos in a photobooth.

we were thinking of going into several boutiques, we saw Hermés, Bally and there was the Pucci boutique and the Chanel boutique close as well but we 'were' in our public school uniforms, not that it would have mattered. My mum says that i really shouldn't venture into designer boutiques on account of her thinking that i'd have my feelings hurt by the shopping assistants implying i can't afford anything there... but honestly who can?! We're all working class heros eventually.

I might go to one of them when i get my replica 2.55. "Replica", not fake OK! it looks exactly the same, made with the same materials under the same conditions... just with a cheaper price tag.
And yes i know, the 2.55, similar to the Archie prize has been overhyped and it seems as if anybody whos anybody has one... but seriously, i've wanted this bag since i was 9!

YOU WILL BE MINE!

*we also were put inside bubbles by a bubble man outside Hermés.

Aghhhhhh (hulk noise) HOMEWORK!!!

whine whine whine whine whine whine

honestly though, this assignment is killing me, its due tuesday and its taking forever, i've been at it for 3 hours (or some crazy amount of time like that) and my result is minimal..

right now i am analysing Materialistic voyeurism of Artescape 2489 (this)which requires me to talk about all the "frames" of art, lovely.

then i have PDHPE homework, maths study, science assignment, geography homework, history homework, more art homework... oh and i should probably work on my english thingo.

oh well it serves me right i guess.... though i'm not sure why just yet.. i'll get back to you.

my mouse has been back and forwards from michi girl, fashion toast and my phone... as well as homework too.

oh and i've been muttering "stupid homework" without noticing.

i warned you i would whine, which makes this blog so fascinating doesn't it... *cough*

this is me, only female, not bald and 20 years younger... i'm not a cartoon either incase you haven't noticed.

Julia Nunes

Amazing.
Props go to best-friend Tom for introducing me to her youtube channel.
Shes inspired me to learn 2 new songs on my red uke.

Why if it isn't the.....

SONY VAIO P SERIES NETBOOK!!!

A friend of mine came to school today and announced her family bought one, i was jellin' as you can imagine. I tried to go all fashonista (yuck i hate that word, why did i use it?) on her and mentioned it was in a runway show i saw recently... but then i forgot which one it was...yay me.

But honestly are they not the coolest piece of technology around?! sure the new enviro mac book is getting some fuss, but compared to this... well in my mind there is no comparison!

My friend and her family picked theres up for $600-$700, which is pretty cheap considering, you can find some cheapo ones on ebay , but good luck trying to find one for $600+

So, this seems like an odd first proper blog, because frankly i'm more interested in other things... technology really isn't my forté, but i couldn't go past not blogging about this objects wonderfulness. So despite you not knowing anything about me at all, i'm leaving you with my confused technology names and descriptions:

Wii: the shaky white thing that looks like its from 2001 space odyssey .
Nintendo DS: the thing you poke the stick at to make the dog bark.
Xbox: the thing everyone plays the shooting games on, you know with the fat controller?
Sidekick/Hiptop: slidey computer look alike phone thing thats now become your main personality trait.

i've come to a blank....
however i love playstation and ipods, thus i can remember their names. I'm also a sucker for arcade games like Daytona, and House of the Dead.... terrible at DDR.
